Be found on Twitter (or is it don’t be hacked?)

Well, I guess you were all invited by Twitter today via a pop-up window to be found via your email address.

When you click the blue question mark icon, you’re sent to this post on the Twitter Support forum regarding ‘contact discoverability’.

Is that really the purpose or is there more? I already got two DMs today from people that had their Twitter account hacked and had to create a new one. They did because they have no idea what to do if you want your account back.

I have to admit that neither do I. What’s going on here? I would hate to lose my Twitter account, have put a lot of time and effort in it.

First we had the “haha. This you????” DMs this week, then came the “hi, i’m 24/female/horny… i have to get off here but message me on my windows live messenger name” DMs, followed by “hey, i’ve been having better sex and longer with this here”.

And now the pop-ups. Coincidence or not? Too many attacks in one week and too many hacked account messages if you ask me.

Anyone?
